Have your say on the grant process for the new Remote Jobs and Economic Development program
Draft Grant Opportunity Guidelines (GOGs) for the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program are now available for public feedback. This is the next step in working in partnership to design the new jobs program coming to remote Australia later this year.
GOGs are the documents that provide potential grantees with all the information required to understand elements of a grant opportunity. This includes eligibility and assessment criteria, how to make an application, overall grant selection process and more.
Potential applicants and stakeholders interested in remote employment have an opportunity to provide feedback on the draft GOGs for the RJED program. This will help us to design them in partnership before the first grant round is expected to open in September 2024. This factsheet can help you better understand the specific elements we are consulting on in the draft GOGs.
It’s proposed the grant opportunity will be an Open Competitive process, where grant applications will be compared to other applications. This aligns with advice from the First Nations Reference Group on the program design. There will be multiple grant rounds throughout the three year period for potential employers to apply. Final decisions on the grants process will be made following feedback from this consultation.
Once the RJED program starts, eligible employers can apply for a grant to help create jobs for their local community, and to support employees through minor capital works and equipment.
This could include grant funding for:
- wages and entitlements, such as superannuation and leave for new jobs
- minor capital, equipment and capacity building to directly support and complement approved new jobs and employees.
To provide feedback on the draft GOGs, email remote.jobs@niaa.gov.au before 31 July 2024.
