Replacing the Community Development Program – second phase of community consultations report
The Australian Government is committed to replacing the Community Development Program (CDP) with real jobs, proper wages and decent conditions. The first stage of replacing the CDP is the design and delivery of a new Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program. The second stage is the design and delivery of a new remote employment service.
Between mid-April and mid-July 2024, the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) conducted a second phase of community consultations, to hear how the new RJED program could be designed and delivered. We heard from more than 3,100 people in 200 remote communities within the 60 current CDP regions. This report outlines the pathway to deliver on the commitment to replace CDP and summarises what we heard through recent consultations.
