Northern Australia White Paper: Township Leasing and Land Administration

The release of the 'Our North, Our Future: White Paper on Developing Northern Australia' outlined the Commonwealth's 20 year economic agenda for Northern Australia. The township leasing and land administration measure supported the increased take-up of township leases by Aboriginal communities in the Northern Territory.

The Agency completed the evaluation of the township leasing and land administration measure to inform overall progress of the White Paper in the post-commencement phase, and support future northern development policy.

This evaluation analyses the role of township leasing in supporting economic development and embedding local decision-making to progress the social, cultural and economic aspirations of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
