2023–24 National Indigenous Australians Agency Annual Report
The Annual Report provides an overview of the NIAA’s activities throughout 2023–24. It outlines the Agency’s key achievements, performance results and financial statements for the period.
The Annual Report marks the end of the 2023–24 Corporate Governance cycle that commenced with the Portfolio Budgets Statements (PBS) and the Corporate Plan. While the PBS and the Corporate Plan outline the Agency’s priorities and intentions for the period, the Annual Report showcases our achievements and ongoing deliverables to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples are heard, recognised and empowered.
Throughout 2023–24, we continued our work to deliver against an ambitious agenda, including:
- progressing the Commonwealth’s commitments under the National Agreement on Closing the Gap, we have continued to work with the Coalition of Peaks, Commonwealth agencies as well as state and territory governments.
- co-sponsoring the SES100 initiative with the APSC to increase First Nations representation in the senior executive service (SES) to better represent the communities we serve.
- supporting local decision-making with communities through the implementation of the Commonwealth’s plan for A Better, Safer Future for Central Australia (the Central Australia Plan), which seeks to improve community safety family and youth services, wellbeing, education and future pathways for prosperity in Alice Springs and Central Australia.
An online version of the Annual Report is also available on the Transparency Portal.
