Strengthening Organisational Governance Policy

The Government is considering the findings of the SOG Policy Evaluation Report.

The SOG policy aims to mitigate against service loss or gaps, caused by the mismanagement of public funds or by organisational failure through mandating incorporation requirements on grantees receiving over $500,000 in IAS funding in any single financial year (excluding capital works projects).

The policy is based on the assumption that organisations regulated by Commonwealth legislation are better governed, resulting in the delivery of high-quality services that improve outcomes for Indigenous Australians. Testing this assumption will be a key part of the evaluation.
