The Tjuwanpa Women Rangers are based in Hermannsburg (Ntaria). They facilitate development opportunities for Indigenous women in conservation and land management.

Akarkutja Warnka Mabaka Kaltjithika meaning ‘older women and younger women all learning together’ is important to the Western Aranda elders. The women rangers:

  • manage natural and cultural resources within the Ntaria region
  • share their traditional ecological knowledge among generations.

The Tjuwanpa Women Rangers undertake fire, weed and feral animal management across 4,500 hectares of land. The land includes five Aboriginal Land Trusts and the Finke Gorge National Park. The rangers’ work is done in collaboration with the Central Land Council and the Parks and Wildlife Commission of the Northern Territory.
