Dorodong Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is on the Dorrigo Plateau in the Northern Tablelands of New South Wales. It protects several waterways, a spectacular waterfall and rainforests with links to ancient Gondwanaland. Today Dorodong IPA is managed by the Dorodong Association Inc.

Dedicated in 2011 and covering 85 hectares, Dorodong is on the Gumbaynggirr people’s traditional lands. These lands stretch north along the coast from the Nambucca River to the Clarence River and inland to the Northern Tablelands. The Bielsdown River partially encircles Dorodong IPA, and weaves its way through forests, bushlands and grasslands.

There are a number of conservation activities underway including:

  • ecological monitoring
  • fencing of rare frog habitat
  • weed control
  • revegetation
  • development of a low impact walking track with information signs.
