The Barkandji Rangers work across the Barkandji Native Title Determination Area in the western region of New South Wales. They are based in Menindee. The Indigenous ranger team is facililtated by the Barkandji Native Title Group Aboriginal Corporation. This corporation is the Registered Native Title Body Corporate of Barkandji Traditional Owners.

The Barkandji People's name comes from the 'Barka' (the Darling River), meaning 'people of the river'. The Barka provides a strong focus for the cultural and natural resource management efforts of the Barkandji Rangers.

In partnership with the wider Barkandji community and stakeholders, the rangers implement the Barkandji Healthy Country Plan. This plan looks after threatened and endangered species and community values in the region.

The Barkandji Rangers program provides a career pathway for Barkandji Traditional Owners. The program applies a two-toolbox approach, combining training in conservation and land management with traditional knowledge.
