The Anmatyerr Rangers are based at Ti Tree, which is approximately halfway between Tennant Creek and Alice Springs. They are strong advocates for the conservation of Indigenous knowledge. The rangers have worked extensively to map and record bush tucker and medicine resources throughout the region.
The rangers carry out a range of activities including:
- waterhole maintenance to protect culturally significant water places
- weed management
- feral animal control
- community education
- fire management
- training and education in land management
- cultural mapping of important sites and storylines.
Current projects include:
- the construction of an exclusion fence to protect a threatened species of lily plant
- collaborative work with scientists and ecologists to survey a proposed mine site for animal and plant species.
