Language is essential to the wellbeing, culture and identity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Language plays an integral role in maintaining the strength of Indigenous communities, particularly in remote areas.

Indigenous language interpreter services are critical to ensuring Indigenous people can engage with government and have equal access to government services and opportunities.

We fund Indigenous interpreting services and training and accreditation services to improve Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander access to qualified interpreters.
