Remote Jobs Trial - Elevating First Nations voices

Jaru woman, Nathalia Rose Imberlong enjoys every moment working as a broadcaster and administration clerk at the Waringarri Media Aboriginal Corporation.
"I feel very proud of myself for working here - I’m making my kids proud by coming to work and encouraging them to strive for their dreams” she says.
Waringarri Media Aboriginal Corporation plays a vital role in keeping the local community in the Kimberley informed. An Indigenous-owned, not-for-profit organisation, it covers regional news through Waringarri Radio, online audio, video streaming, and through a strong social media presence.
Its Waringarri Multi-Media Project aims to provide accredited training and employment pathways, and through new funding provided through the New Jobs Program Trial the organisation has been able to create 3 new roles.
These new positions in administration, broadcasting, video and social media production, ensure First Nation voices continue to be the narrators of their own stories.
Nathalia Rose Imberlong enjoys learning everything there is to know about broadcast media in her role with Waringarri Media.
"I enjoy every moment coming to work, as it is delightful and gratifying and I feel satisfaction when others enjoy or are encouraged as much as I am within this industry” she says.
Nathalia Rose Imberlong says she enjoys her role for many reasons, including being able to learn new techniques to help better herself for future projects, and connecting with others in the community and beyond.
"I’m part of a deadly team and something that matters – working towards making a difference in the community. I enjoy making a change whilst uniting and empowering others to have a voice and say”
"I feel very proud of myself for working here … it gives me purpose to get up every morning, knowing I am doing something that I enjoy and am passionate about. I’m making my kids proud by coming to work and encouraging them to strive for their dreams"
Nathalia Rose Imberlong would like to educate herself more on the technical side of filming and editing and is excited about future projects.
"I just want to let people know that dreams can come true— you just need to put in the work, have motivation with a positive attitude and never put yourself second best. You can always achieve a lot when you put yourself around a great work environment with an optimistic view when taking on different roles and opportunities"
The New Jobs Program Trial is one of 3 remote jobs trials underway that have helped inform the design of the Remote Jobs and Economic Development (RJED) program.
