The Asthma Management Program (AMP) aims to improve the management of asthma in the community and to promote appropriate access to medical support and assistance; and provide information and emergency response training for the management of asthma and linked chronic respiratory conditions to staff from schools, including promotion of self-management principles. The impact and reach of the AMP are anticipated to increase with continued growth and expansion of the program.
Additional funding has been provided to Asthma Australia to engage the Asthma Foundation Northern Territory (AFNT) through the AMP to deliver Aboriginal Health Worker training in up to five regions in regional and remote areas of the NT, as a pilot. AFNT is currently sub-contracted by Asthma Australia to deliver the AMP activities in the NT.
