Achievements over the last 12 months:

  • On 26 August Joint Council endorsed the draft Agreement to Implement and High Level Workplan for the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Policy Partnership (SEWB PP).
  • The first meeting of the SEWB PP was held in March 2023, and the second meeting in August 2023.
  • The second meeting focused on agreeing the annual work plan of priorities and actions, scoping the way forward for an agreed priority and ways to further drive shared decision-making through Joint Council and responsible Ministers.

Partnership elements strengthened:

32B(iii) meets in 2023. The partnership has been strengthened with the Agreement to Implement the SWEB PP The Agreement embeds the shared decision elements and principles of the strong partnership elements in the National Agreement and is publicly available.

The strong partnership element of 32C continue to be further embedded where the partners work together to strengthen the partnership approach for the SEWB PP. The Agreement to Implement stipulates the Partnership is guided by the principle that decision-making is shared between governments and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, including that shared-decision making is by consensus, where the voices of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Parties hold as much weight as the departmental representatives of governments.

Clause 33 Gayaa Dhuwi (Proud Spirit) Australia (GDPSA) is funded to support First Nations members and provide joint secretariat and policy support for the Social and Emotional Wellbeing Policy Partnership (SEWB PP) in partnership with the Department of Health and Aged Care. GDSPA is also funded to engage with the community to seek advice and identify experts, including people with lived experience.
