The Githabul Rangers come from the Githabul community. They work across some 110,000 hectares in the Northern Rivers region of New South Wales. This region  includes rainforests as well as the Border Ranges National Biodiversity Hotspot.

Kyogle, in the Northern Rivers region, is the home of the most extensive areas of subtropical rainforest in the world. The Gondwana Rainforests of Australia are of international importance, and have a place on the World Heritage List.

The Githabul Rangers are addressing the management of weeds in areas of high cultural significance. These weeds include lantana and introduced vine species. The rangers also undertake interpretation and education activities to increase visitor knowledge of the Indigenous values of the area.
