The Mid North Coast Aboriginal Ranger team supports Aboriginal aspirations in caring for their country. The rangers work across four local Aboriginal Land Council regions and operate across a range of different land tenures in the Mid North Coast region. They provide environmental and heritage services through a number of partnership arrangements.

In partnership with New South Wales National Parks and Wildlife, the rangers carry out many natural and cultural resource activities. These are conducted in:

  • The Myall Lakes National Park, an internationally recognised Ramsar listed wetland.
  • Saltwater National Park, a gazetted Aboriginal Place and traditional camping area from long before European settlement.

The rangers also provide environmental services across part of the Gondwana Rainforests of the Australian World Heritage Area. These protected areas provide habitat for diverse native flora and fauna species, including large numbers of waterbirds.
