The Mangarrayi Rangers work on the Mangarrayi Aboriginal Land Trust, formerly Elsey Station. They undertake fee-for-service contracts throughout the greater Roper River catchment.

The rangers use traditional and contemporary land management practices to reduce the threat of unmanaged fires and invasive species. They have controlled over 5,000 hectares of priority weeds per year, focusing on Weeds of National Significance.

Recent activities include:

  • early mosaic burning
  • the removal of around 300 feral animals
  • conducting a three-day cultural camp with traditional owners at Red Lily Lagoon to teach kids about bush tucker and traditional hunting.
