Pormpuraaw gives a warm welcome for AACAP 2021
NIAA is proud to work together with the Australian Army to deliver the annual Army Aboriginal Community Assistance Program.
This year, AACAP will be in the community of Pormpuraaw on the Cape York Peninsula.
During the four month project, the 19th Chief Engineer Works and the 6th Engineer Support Regiment of the Australian Army will build of a new independent living facility for Elders, a men’s shed and several lots of subdivided land for future building works.
But, it’s not just the Elders of Pormpuraaw that will reap the benefits of AACAP. The regiment will participate in weekly activities with students at Pormpuraaw State School which have been designed to improve attendance as well as the numeracy and literacy skills of the students.
Pormpuraaw is the 46th remote community to host AACAP, and locals have wholeheartedly welcomed the AACAP team.
