Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities are a priority in the Australian Government’s response to COVID-19. The Australian Government will be responsible for leading the implementation of the COVID-19 vaccination program for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, in consultation with state and territory governments and the ACCHS sector to ensure Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander needs and perspectives are at the forefront of the program.
The National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) is working to reduce the impact of COVID-19 on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Working with state and territory governments, and a wide range of stakeholders, NIAA is focusing on critical issues such as food security, the safety and wellbeing of remote communities, and ensuring access to the wide range of Government supports.
