The government is now operating in accordance with the Guidance on Caretaker Conventions, pending the outcome of the 2025 federal election.

The Work Exposure in Government (WEX) program provides Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students with hands-on experience and knowledge about career pathways in the Australian Government.

WEX Regional 2025 will be held from Sunday 4 May to Friday 9 May 2025.

All accommodation, transportation and meals are provided at no cost and students are accompanied by teachers and mentors who provide cultural mentoring and leadership guidance.

Activities and experiences may include:

  • Meeting First Nations leaders, and obtaining advice on career planning.
  • Visits to different Australian Government agencies.
  • Working alongside Indigenous mentors who will help guide your personal leadership journey.
  • Meeting other Indigenous students and future leaders.
  • One-on-one and small group workshops on leadership, mentoring and how to make the most of your school learning experience.
